Phongsaly: rural road construction kicked off
(KPL) A road construction project stretches 18 km long from Latsang village, Khoua district to Mokpha Samphanh district, Phongsaly province has kicked off recently.
This road construction project financed by the United States of America accounting for 1. 9 billion kip will take for five month. The project is conducted by local construction company “Sompasong” based in Oudomsay province.
After completing this road, it will improve the living conditions of local people, especially poverty reduction and the promotion of cash crops instead of the opium poppy farming.
Taking part in the opening ceremony of road construction were Phongsaly Governor Khamsane Souvong, US Ambassador to Lao PDR, Mr Ravic Rolf Huso in the presence of officials concerned. At the same day, Mr Huso’s delegation was accompanied by Mr. Khamsan to visit three villages of MujiKhang, Namthouang, Phousangmai, an opium rehabilitation centre, under the authority of Samphanh district. The delegation has also donated a number of text books, medical and sport gears to each villages.
