Laos and China agrees to further co-operation radio and TV
(KPL) Laos and China has signed recently an agreement to further their co-operation on radio and television. According to the agreement, the Lao side has allowed the China to build the network of the Chinese Central Television (CCTV), channel 4 and 9 in the Lao PDR before the Olympic Games 2008 started, while the Chinese side will receive the information from Laos for broadcasting in CCTV. The Chinese side will also help Laos to improve its TV system. This was a part of Lao ministry of information and culture high ranking delegation at the China-ASEAN Summit Forum on Radio and Television held in Beijing, China from April 21-25. The Lao delegation headed by Mr. BorsengkhamVongdala, Deputy Minister of Information and Culture. The China-ASEAN Radio and Television Broadcasting Summit was launched in Beijing. 100 representatives of TV and broadcasting organizations from China and 10 ASEAN member countries attended the event. The three-day forum titled “Exchanges, cooperation and development” featured discussions relating to broadcasting policy, social responsibility and development. Participants signed a Summit Declaration” and a number of bilateral cooperation agreements. All the ASEAN representatives also agreed that to promote radio and television cooperation would help push forward the China-ASEAN strategic partnership. On this occasion, the Lao delegation also paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Liu Yunshan, head of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
