Over 2,400 cartons of smuggled cigarettes put on fire

(KPL) Nearly 2,500 cartons of smuggled cigarette worth over 200 million kip were put on fire at That Luang square on 1 February.
The ad hoc committee has seized smuggled cigarettes from merchants in markets, Vientiane Capital.
Joining to burn the cigarette was Head of Vientiane Capital Industry and Commerce Division, Mr. Berlin Phetchantharath and relevant officials.
Majority of smuggled cigarettes has been seized in the duty-free shop and other shop at Lao-Thai Friendship Bride, in Phasay village, Sisattanak district, Vientiane Capital and Shopping Mall.
The owner shops have been warned and instructed as well as fined under the law.
