ADB head bids farewell to foreign minister

(KPL) Mr. Gil Hong Kim, Director of the Asian Development Bank in Laos, last week, paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, to bid farewell at the end of his mission in Laos.

During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the ADB head for his active contribution to the soliciting and support for loans and grant aid of more than US$ 200 million for the socio-economic development in Laos from the ADB and other development partners. This has been a great contribution to poverty reduction of Laopeople.

The Lao Vice-Premier expressed thanks for the ADB’s valuable assistance and hoped for further continued aid from the regional bank.

Dr Thongloun also wished his ADB guest good success in fulfilling his new mission and a good trip home. Mr. Gil Hong Kim thanked Mr. Thongloun and Lao officials at all levels for providing support and facilities which helped him to successfully fulfil his duty in Laos. He also reaffirmed his continuing support for the strong relations and co-operation between the ADB and the Lao PDR.

Mr. Gil Hong Kim has been assigned to work in Laos since 2 January, 2008.
