Luang Prabang Community Radio popular among locals

(KPL) Luang Prabang Community Radio is attracting a relatively large audience while lacking young human resources, experience and techniques, said Deputy Head of the Information and Culture Service of Luang Prabang province.

The radio was established five years ago and ever since it has broadcast a programme themed “children and mothers will be saved if they take into account vaccination”, said Mr. Som-ok Phanthavong, whose post was mentioned earlier.

In addition, the programme is aimed to urge children and young people in the province to pay attention to education, cultural preservation, drug prevention and environment protection.

The radio held a meeting to assess its operation over the previous time on February 26.

The meeting was attended by Governor of Luang Prabang province, Mr. Bounheuang Duangphachanh, and representative of the Lao National Radio, the Youth Cultural Centre and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

Currently the radio has 204 programmes
functioning.
