Children book festival to hold next week

(KPL) Children are enjoying and touching different interesting books at the upcoming 6th book festival for children to be held at the Vientiane Education Service, Vientiane Capital on 12-14 March.

The books are a knowledge development resource and give better experiences for readers of all social strata and all ages. The reading of children is an inspiration of images and gives experiences for developing their knowledge, speaking and writing skills.

Entertaining and informative books are also to attract children to love reading.

Mrs. Dara Kanlaya, a representative of the Action with Lao Children (ALC), said that the book festival originated in 2006.

The main objective of the festival is to promote reading among children.

The 6th book festival will feature art performances played by children, storytelling and painting competitions, and book selling.

In addition, the participants can touch the development of chil dren via booths of international organisations and children centre, including Children’s Education Centre and Children Culture Centre of the Vientiane Capital and Borikhamsay province.

Mrs. Dara called on parents to take children to the festival which opens from 9:00 am till 4:00 pm on 12-14 March.

The festival is jointly organised by the Vientiane Education Service in collaboration with the National Library, the ALC, the Lao Buddhism Development Authority, Church World Service, Shanti Volunteer’s Association, Donekoy Children’s Development Centre, Children’s Education Centre, Dokket Printing Company, Sengsouvanh Printing, Yaovay Printing and Midy Book Printing.
