Illegal log trucking means revealed

(KPL) Rangers of the Phoukhao Khwai National Protection Forest have disclosed a new method of illegal timber trucking out of the protected area by some groups of log smugglers that have been arrested.

So far, some groups of log smugglers have hidden timbers felled in the protected forest area in their modified trucks which look very similar to the ranger’s vehicles of the Phoukhao Khwai protected area.

These modified vehicles can pass the checkpoints of authorities with no suspicion by authorities. There are many means of transportation by hiding timber in the modified trucks out of the Phoukhao Khwai protected area like carts, tractors, boats and other cars.

Timber has been hidden together with other agricultural produce in modified vehicles out of the protected area.

Facing this chronic problem, the number of rangers has been increased for the patrol and prevention of the operations of illegal loggers in the Phoukhao Khwai protected area.

The authorities are urging more local people living around the Phoukhao Khwai protected area to take part in the protection efforts.
