Bokeo province develops tourism service

(KPL) Bokeo province is focusing on developing tourism and related infrastructure and service, such as hotels, guesthouses and restaurants, said Mr. Vanthong Chittakoun, Director of Bokeo Tourism Service.

The number of tourists was increased by more than 10 per cent last year over the year 2008.

Tourism is expected to see a significant increase after the construction of the fourth Lao-Thai Mekong Bridge and Road R3 is over, said Mr. Vanthong.

The construction of the 4th Mekong Bridge is to start this month and is scheduled to take 30 months. Meanwhile the development of Road R3 is expected to facilitate the investment and tourism between Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and China.

Bokeo province is developing and exploiting 85 important tourist sites to attract larger number of both domestic visitors and foreign tourists.
