Hot weather desperately worsen till May
(KPL) The weather in March, April and May nationwide is forecasted to desperately hot and sultry, and low humidity, which can possibly cause fires, according to last week’s forecast of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.
The department also warned the general public of rainfalls with thunders, strong winds and hails.
Drought and hot weather is forecasted to desperately persist till May, which will make the levels of rivers, streams, swamps as well as the Mekong River low unprecedentedly. And in the upcoming May, the water level of the Mekong River from the north to the east of the country will go down to an unprecedented level.
The weather for all parts of the country from March to May is forecasted to be close to the normal level or slightly higher.
The Mekong River Commission revealed last week that drought has already occurred. Noticeably, the Mekong River went down very fast as a result of less rainfall. The water level of the Mekong River is expected to further go down next month.
The Land and Water Transport Service of the northern Bokeo province said that tourist cruises have suspended their services due to the low water level of the Mekong River. In some areas, the water level is as low as 60-80 cm.
