Foreign Deputy Minister inspects World vision project in Savannakhet

(KPL) Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alounkeo Kittikhoun and his delegation, on 25 April visited Outhoumphone and Atsaphangthong districts, Savannakhet province to monitor the progress of World Vision’s project.
The World Vision has provided assistance to 21 focal villages out of a total of 96 villages in two districts since 2006. These villages have received 30,000 kg of paddy rice and 10,000 kg of white rice with a total worth of 133 million kip. This aid was main assistance provided to these villages aiming at relieving poverty among locals.
In addition, the World Vision project was able to set up funds for raising goat in 10 targeted villages and provided 648 goats to 30 poor families. Every year, goatlings will be given to other poor families in the villages.
The public health considers as an important work, the project provided 300 latrines to 21 villages in two villages worth 118 million kip. Now there are 178 families have already used the latrines.
The project also helped locals in 21 villages to have access to safe water resource by establishing 60 hand water pump worth 210 million kip of which 33 villages have already used it.
Some 31 villages in Atsaphone district, Savannakhet province will also receive assistance from the World Vision project till 2012. This is a preparing period for operating the project.
The development project of World Vision has completed to evaluate the need of 12 communities.
The project has also completed in the construction of drainage system in four villages. The roads in villages can not communicate during rainy season. In addition these villages have also lacked schools.
At the same time, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alounkeo and his entourage visited some number of development projects respectively Ban Nonsavang in Outhoumphone, Ban Somhong in Atsaphangthong where they were welcomed by local people and local authorities.
