President visits Bokeo

(KPL) Last month, President Choummaly Sayasone visited Bokeo province to talk to Party members, pensioners, officers, and local authorities and people.
Mr. Choummaly received a warm welcome and briefing from Mr. Khammanh Sounvileuth, Governor of Bokeo province, about some of the significant achievements of this northern province. The president praised people of all social strata for their contribution to the implementation of the government policies. He praised local people’s defeat against enemies’ dark plots and maintained social orderliness while striving for development.
On this occasion, President Choummaly visited the ASEAN Golden Triangle Economic and Integrated Tourism Development Project in Tonpheung district where he was briefed about the progress in the construction and the development of the project and its future activities.
President Choummaly expressed congratulations to the Chinese investors for their contribution to the development in Tonpheung district, which reflects the friendly assistance between Laos and China.
President Choummaly and his entourage visited the market-oriented maize plantation of villagers in the Danthin Development Village Cluster, Houaisai district. The Danthin Development Village Cluster is inhabited by 763 families of 689 households of four main ethnic groups. The village cluster has 1,500 ha of maize plantation, 648 ha of rice fields, 400 ha for bean plantation and 248 ha for industrial tree and cash crops plantations.
The president urged the local residents to uphold their traditional spirit of agricultural production and pay attention to the national defence and security and to strengthen their unity with people in other districts, and enhance agricultural activities.
