Government expresses sympathy to Myanmar
(KPL) Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh on Monday sent a message of condolences to his Myanmar counterpart General Thein Sein over the devastation wrought on Myanmar by a deadly cyclone, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “ I learnt on 2 May, 2008, that cyclone Nargis entered Myanmar from the Bay of Bengal, causing a great loss of life and property to the people of Myanmar who live in the lower part of the country to the Karen and Mon states” The Prime Minister, on behalf of the government and people of the Lao PDR, expressed regret and sympathy to the Prime Minister of Myanmar, in particular families of the victims. I am confident that under the care of the State Peace and Development Council as well as the government of Myanmar, and with assistance from the international community, the people of Myanmar would soon be able to bring back the affected areas to normalcy.
