PM asks Nasaithong to strengthen their ownership over social-economic development

(KPL) Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh has asked people in Nasaithong district, Vientiane Capital, to work hard to strengthen their ownership in order to make effective contribution to the national social-economic development.
The statement was made during a visit of Prime Minister Bouasone to Nasaithong district on 6 May. Prime Minister Bouasone was warmly welcomed and briefed about the local situation by its chief Mr. Khamphanh Bounchingmisay.
Nasaithong having a total area of 900 sqm is made up of six development village clusters, 10,897 households and 58,551 families.
The majority of the people in the district are farmers, accounting for 75% of the total population.
In the 2006-2007 period, the district enjoyed a total harvest of 44,800 tonnes of paddy and 9,700 tonnes of cash crops. The local production also supplied 2,600 tonnes of meats to local markets.
On this occasion, PM Bouasone expressed congratulations for the great achievements gained by district in the past one year and urged all officials to further educate local people and strengthen the unity among the multi-ethnic communities.
The trip also took the Prime Minister and his entourage to the production sites of Houai Nam Yen and Senedin villages and the Nam Houm reservoir.
