Reducing imitation motorcycles

(KPL) Vientiane Mayor’s Office held an official meeting of the dissemination of the Prime Minister’s Decree on the industrial Design and the cessation of the infringement of industrial design of Honda Wave 110 from Japan.
Participants to the function were motorcycle dealers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers.
Head of Vientiane Science Technology and Environment Division, Mr. Daopheth Aloun, highlighted the compliance to rules and regulations on the intellectual property for all motorcycle dealers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers due to the fact that Laos is now in the process of joining the World Trade Organisation and Laos’ law on intellectual property has been endorsed by the National Assembly.
As the chairman of the meeting Mr. Daopheth also expressed concern over the imitation of various motorcycle models or industrial design of Honda Motor Co., LTD and has strongly requested the participants to cease the production, sales, restoring for sales and distribution of motorcycles that are found imitating or violating the registered design of Honda Wave of Honda Motor Co., LTD of Japan. In order to ensure the compliance of the legal tools, an official inspection will follow up all motorcycle dealers, manufacturers, wholesalers and retailers in Vientiane through inspecting and confiscating all counterfeit products.
Fake motorcycles and misleading to the customers have been widely practised in the country and that the government has put high attention to put a stop to this issue to benefit consumers and promote fair competition among producers, raise innovation, creation and new ideas to contribute to the development of higher quality and lower cost for the benefits of the society.
