Foreign Minister visits the Philippines

(KPL) A high ranking officials of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic led by Dr Thongloun Sisoulith, Minister of Foreign Affairs to visit the Philippines from 5 to 7 May, in response to the invitation of his Filipino counterpart, Mr Alberto Gatmaitan Romulo aiming at strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Both sides expressed congratulations of the bilateral cooperation, and informed outstanding situation of each country, in particular, the achievements in socio economic development in the countries as well as region.
They have discussed on the regional and international issues related to the progress in the implementation of various cooperation projects.
Two ministers have highly valued the past of bilateral relations and cooperation between Laos and the Philippines which two sides reaffirmed to further enhance bilateral cooperation in politic and socio-economic development between two nations.
Both sides have also signed a MOU on founding a joint committee between two governments, Laos and the Philippines with the aim to boost the bilateral cooperation.
A three-day working visit, Dr Thongloun also called on Deputy President of the Philippines, and medical school and vocational training centre in Manila.
