PM’s greetings to European Union Commission

(KPL) Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh has sent a telegram of greetings to the President of the European Union Commission Mr. JOSE Manuel Barroso.
The message reads: “On the occasion of founding anniversary of Europe Union, on behalf of the Lao People’ Democratic Republic and my own, I would like to express warm greetings and best wishes to you and European union governments and peoples. I believe that the relations of friendship and cooperation between Laos and European Union would be further developed for the interests of the peoples of both sides and for international peace and development.”
The European Union (EU) was established in November 1993 following the ratification of the Maasticht Treaty by the twelve Member States. The number of Member States has since increased, first to 15 with Australia, Finland, and Sweden joining the Union in January 1995, and then to 25 in 2004, with the arrival of 10 new Member States and now it stands at 27.
