President meets Vientiane core cadres and senior officials
(KPL) The Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and State President, Choummaly Sayasone, attended a meeting of core cadres and senior officials in Vientiane on 18 January. In his address to the meeting, the top Party leader said that the core cadres and senior officials should talk to local people about issues of socio-economic development, security and their welfare. The President added that the core cadres and senior officials should feel that it is their responsibility to mobilise local people in agricultural production and to boost for higher output. He also urged the senior officials and local authorities of districts to act as role models in order to lead local people in diverse activities, especially socio-economic development work. Also on hand were Mr Chansy Phosikham, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Party Committee of Vientiane province, Mr Khammeung Phongthady, Deputy Secretary of this central province’s Party Committee, and the chiefs of the districts of Maid, Vangvieng, Kasy, and Hinheub. The meeting was briefed by the chiefs of Maid, Vangvieng, Kasy, and Hinheub districts and others summarised their activities in their respective areas, such as socio-economic development over the past year, poverty reduction, building and strengthening political grassroots and national security work. During the meeting, the President heard requests from the local people, including the calls for building all-season roads and bridges between villages and districts and the electrification to remote areas.
