Laos to host 1st Mekong Health Congress

(KPL) The 1st Mekong Health Congress will be held on 25-28 January in Vientiane under the supervision of the Public Health Ministry, the University of Health Science and the French Embassy in Laos.
The congress will gather over 1,500 participants from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, the EU, Africa and South America.
This congress is aimed to communicate and share knowledge and sanitary practices adapted to realities of Southeast Asia. It will focus on sanitary policies and quality of treatment including neglected or unknown pathologies like epilepsies, tuberculosis, mental health diseases and will propose innovative methods of organisation and coverage of emergencies.
The four-day event will also draw experts to share knowledge and experience with 800 students of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing, midwifery and paramedical technicians and the participants will have opportunities to learn about health treatment, surgery, pharmacy, dental and paramedical disciplines in 17 sessions and workshops.
“The Lao PDR will benefit a lot from hosting this congress. In particular, students will have opportunities to upgrade their knowledge through learning experience from experts from many countries,” said on Monday Minister of Public Health Dr Ponemek Dalaloy.
