Luang Prabang sets GDP growth by more than 10%
(KPL) Luang Prabang province will spur its GDP growth to no less than 14 per cent annually in the next five-year plan (2011-2015) from the previous year’s 9.4 per cent.
The 2011-2015 next five-year plan for socio-economic development is expected to be approved at the 6th meeting of the Party Committee of Luang Prabang province, which was officially opened on 18 August at the Provincial Convention Hall in the attendance of Vice-President Bounhnang Vorachith.
The event was attended by more than 300 Party members of Luang Prabang province and senior officials including Mr Bounheuang Douangphachanh, Luang Prabang Governor, and eight northern governors.
Under the next five-year plan for socio-economic development of Luang Prabang province, the GDP is projected at no less than 14 per cent, with the expected output of 6.7 per cent from the agriculture and forestry sector, 18.4 per cent from industry and 20 per cent from the service sector, according to Governor Bounheuang’s report.
He has also read out to the meeting a political report and a report on the implementation of provincial socio-economic development over the past five years, with the annual GDP growth at 9.4 per cent, totalling 3,001.43 billion kip, and the per capita income of 6.98 million kip (US$821).
" The figure exceeded the target of 26.3 per cent approved at the 5th meeting of the Party Cell. By the target, the agriculture and forestry output was set at 7.5 per cent, industry and handicraft at 13 per cent and the service sector at 10 per cent,"he added. The meeting will continue until 20 August, which will focus on considering and approving the political report and the next five-year plan for socio-economic development.
The delegates will listen to all representatives' comments from relevant sectors contributing to the political report and its future plan.
