Rally held to mark LPA 61st anniversary

(KPL) The Ministry of National Defence yesterday held a rally to commemorate the 61st founding anniversary of the Lao People’s Army, on 20 January.
The rally was attended by over 100 military heroes, officers, combatants, and representatives of units and organizations in the ministry, including Lieutenant General Douangchay Phichit, Politburo member of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee (LPRP CC), and Minister of National Defence.
In his statement to the gathering, Major General Sengnoua Sengyalath, Deputy Minister of National Defence and Director of the General Political Department of the Armed Forces, hailed the great gains of the Lao People’s Army over the past half century. He talked about the excellent deeds written in the history of the army.
The comprehensive development and growth of the Lao People’s Army, in its political aspects, organization and military hardware, is a source of pride for the Lao people, Major General Sengnoua Sengyalath said.
The great gains and victories of the army over the past 61 years stemmed from the able and brilliant leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, who have educated and fostered the combatants of the army.
Lieutenant General Douangchay Phichit also spoke of the LPA’s tradition of struggle, the Party’s organization and guidance of the army, and the protection of the LPA’s tradition.
On 19 January, Lieutenant General Douangchay Phichit and high-ranking military officers in the Ministry of National Defence also laid a wreath at the Monument for Unknown Soldiers, to pay homage to soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation and people.
