Germany constructs technical schools in three Northern provinces
(KPL) The German government has provided 4.5 million Euros for the construction of three technical schools in Phongsaly, Xiengkhouang and Oudomsay. The construction of these educational institutes is over and the handover of the schools was held on January 17in Xiengkhouang province. The handover was performed by German ambassador to Laos, Mr. Peter Wienand, and Minister of Education, Mr. Somkoth Mangnomek. Standing Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, relevant authorities and local people witnessed the event. The grant from the german government is equivalent to 80 per cent of the construction cost of the three technical schools while the government of Laos invest the rest 800,000 Euros in the construction, said Dr. Kongsy Sengmany, Head of the Vocational Education Department, Ministry of Education. The Technical School in Oudomsay province has 15 buildings, one football pitch and is able to receive 360 students. The Technical School in Phongsaly province has nine buildings and one football pitch and is able to receive 160 students. The Xiengkhouang Technical School has 18 buildings and one football pitch and is able to receive 360 students.
