NA gives lecture on Vientiane’s 450th anniversary
(KPL) The National Assembly last Friday held at its premises a lecture on the 450th anniversary of Vientiane Capital as the national capital of Laos.
The lecture was given by Deputy Head of the Commission on Law of the National Assembly, Mr. Davone Vangvichith and attended by officials of the Assembly. The lecturer highlighted the civilisation of Vientiane in the sixteenth century to early seventeenth century (1560-1631), the struggle of the Lao people against invading enemies and the socio-economic development of Vientiane at the time.
“In the past, Vientiane had gone through eras of ups and downs of civilisation and invasions, and suffered the aftermath of foreign invasions. However, under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, Vientiane is making progress toward era of development and civilisation,” said Mr. Davone.
The Propaganda and Training Board of the Party Central Committee, in cooperation with the Organising Committee for the Celebration of Vientiane’s 450th Anniversary as National Capital has drafted a document on the chronological and historical events of Vientiane for the public lecture and dissemination which is aimed at making the Lao people realise Vientiane’s history, the bravery and struggle of their warriors and ancestors and their heritages left over for the current and younger generations as well as to promote the involvement of the Lao people in national protection and construction.
