Streetlight master plan for Vientiane Capital

(KPL) A new street lightning master plan for Vientiane Capital has been handed over to Vientiane Capital Administration after completing a feasibility study on street lightning and decorative lightning.
The seven months of feasibility study was carried out by the French Citelum Company.
The signing ceremony to hand over the master plan on street lightning and decorative lightning was held in Vientiane Capital, on 19 January.
Signatories to the document were Vientiane Deputy Mayor Bounchanh Sinthavong and French company Citelum Head Michel Rateau in the presence of Vientiane Mayor Sombat Yealiher and both side officials.
Vientiane’s street lightning and decorative lightning master plan was grant by the French government, amounting to 279,000 EURO. The survey plan started implementing in mid-June 2009 and completed late November 2009.
This master plan will be used as a fundamental guidance for improving streetlight in Vientiane and it will also make the capital looks brighter and more attractive as well as reduce road accident in the capital.
The installation of streetlight project will equip with the new technology and standard electricity system, which will provide more convenience in application and management for authorities.Main cities worldwide have started to use this system as it could save electricity more than 30 per cent.The French Citelum Company began a survey on street lighting and decorative lighting last June as part of studies to formulate the master plan.
The company is helping to improve the infrastructure in Vientiane because besides having a bearing on safety, lighting is an important visual aspect of any city and a measure of development.
The project is a part of the contribution to the Lao government’s policy guideline to make the Vientiane Capital look brighter, and as the contribution to the cerebration of the 450th anniversary of Vientiane proclaiming as capital in late this year.
