Khammouane prepares for tourism festival of five central provinces

(KPL) Khammouane is preparing for hosting the Tourism Festival of Five Central Provinces, which is scheduled to take place by the end of this month. The province will also use the coming occasion to announce its capital district Thakhek as a tourist attraction of the province.
Chief of Thakhek district, Mr. Phetsamay Phetlamphanh, said on Tuesday that the festival will begin with the celebration of King Sikhottabong Stupa festival on 24-30 January, trade air of agricultural, industrial products and handicrafts on 26-30 January. It is expected that the trade fair will have 300 booths of goods and service of government agencies, domestic companies and those from Vietnam and Thailand.
On 28 January there will be the opening ceremony of eco-tourism festival and the announcement of Thakhek as a tourism attraction of Khammouane province. According to Mr. Phetsamay, over 70 per cent of the preparation has been carried out and now the province is focusing on the restoration and improvement of King Sikhottabong Stupa, King Sikhottabong Park, and cultural houses.
Khammouane has 146 tourist sites including 119 natural tourist sites, 25 cultural tourist sites and two historical tourist sites.
King Sikhottabong Stupa , Toumphavang Stupa , Sikhottabong Cultural Park, Kong Lor Natane Cave, Nongpafa Cave, Nang Aen Cave, Namthuen 2 Dam are the well-known tourist sites of Khammouane.
