Champassak needs 31 billion kip for irrigation building and repair
(KPL) Champassak needs as much as 31 billion kip to spend on building and repairing irrigation systems to ensure the agricultural production of local farmers in this rainy season, said an official.
Mr. Sivone Sisomphou, Director of the Irrigation Service, Agriculture and Forestry Service of Champassak province, said that over 10 billion kip was needed for flood and drought prevention activities in eight districts across the province and over 20 billion kip was required for promoting the coming dry-season rice production on 4,610 ha in 2010-2011 period.
Mr. Sivone said that there were 132 irrigation projects in this southernmost province.
These irrigation systems could supply water for 12,000 ha of irrigated areas when the province was hit by drought in recent months.
