Illegal chain saws presented

(KPL) The rangers of Forest Service of Sangthong district, Vientiane Capital, on 20 January presented 25 seized chain saw machines to the Agriculture and Forestry Division of Vientiane Capital Administration.
The 25 chain saw machines were seized from some groups of illegal wood businesspeople in Sangthong district that used it for felling trees in the protected forests.
The machines were handed over by Mr Vilasack Nammountry, Deputy Chief of Sangthong district to Mr Latsanivong Amalathithada, Head of Vientiane Agriculture and Forestry Division.
The rangers of Sangthong district have disclosed that the seizure of chain saws thanks to close cooperation between local authorities and local people. Many kinds of endangered woods have also been seized.
The woods have been illegally felled in protected forest of Phanang mountain, which shares common border between Vientiane Capital and Vientiane province.
Presently, the monitoring campaign has been carrying out in the district so as to suppress the illegal wood business group.
