Japan finances labour skills development training course in Laos
(KPL)The Asean-Japan Cooperation on Human Resource Development Training Project and the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare in cooperation with the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Japanese Vocational Training Association held a nationwide training course on improving the assessment of labour skills on January 19, 2010. Present at the event were Mr. Phouvanh Chanthavong, Head of the Department of Labour Skill Development and Job Recruitment, Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, representatives of Japanese embassy in Laos, the National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and relevant officials of both sides.At the training which is designed to enable Lao officials to promote labour skill development and certification, the trainees learned about the assessment of labour skills development in Japan. The training is supported by the Ministry of Health of Japan and the Labour and Social Welfare of Japan. Six series of the training have been held in the Lao PDR since 2004. The implementation of the Asean-Japan Cooperation on Human Resource Development Training Project has been divided into two phases. The first one is for 2004-2008 period and the second one is for 2009-2012 period.
