Annual festival of Vat Phou temple kicked off

(KPL) The annual festival of Vat Phou temple in southernmost province of Champassack kicked off yesterday.
This year is the celebration of the 5th anniversary of the Vat Phou temple has been proclaimed as the world heritage site of the UNESCO after approving Luang Prabang province. “Therefore, this annual festival has a lot of activities, which runs till 30 January,” said the organising committee of Champassak province. “In particularly, traditional sports poured down from ancestors to generation such as cock fighting and sack racing games.
Vat Phou complex temple is an attractive site for domestic and foreign tourists, especially the annual festival of Vat Phou complex temple.
In addition, there is also a trade fair and a concert which would be performed singers from Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand.
Vat Phu is a ruined Khmer complex temple in southern Laos. It is located at the base of mount Phu Kao, some 6 km from the Mekong river Champassak province. There was a temple on the site as early as the 5th century, but the surviving structures date from the 11th to 13th centuries.
