Donations flow to Ketsana victims

(KPL) Donations in cash and relief items, totally worth over 150 million kip, were announced at a concert to raise fund for assisting flood victims in the southern provinces of Saravane, Sekong and Attapeu.

The concert was held by the Lao Journalists’ Association, in cooperation with the Lao Handicraft Association, the Lao Businesswomen’s Association, the Restaurant and Hotel Association, the Foundation for Assisting Poor People of the Lao PDR and the Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity.

Representatives of the associations presented the donations to the representatives of authorities in the three southern provinces on 21-23 February.

The donation set aside each province is worth over 50 million kip and includes clothes, drinking water and cash.

Flood victims in Saravane are in bad need of rice; Sekong says most needed is construction materials for building houses for the victims of 500 households meanwhile Attapeu says it prefers cash assistance.
