Interplast Australia and New Zealand finances operation on burn patients

(KPL) A non-profit Interplast Australia and New Zealand has financed an operation on Lao patients who suffer from burn wounds and normal wounds. The operation is conducted at Mahosot Hospital, on Feb 22 – Mar 4.

The operation is carried out by an eight-member medical team from Australia, led by a surgeon and anaesthetist Dr. Phillip Stanley, and a medical team of Mahosot Hospital.

It is expected that over 100 patients will have been provided an operation by the Lao and Australian medical teams.

The Interplast Australia and New Zealand has provided assistance to the Lao PDR since 1996.

Besides to its provision of healthcare assistance to the Lao people, the organisation also provides similar assistance developing countries.

It also provides technical assistance for health workers in these countries to enable the local health workers to provide an operation by themselves.
