Tourist businessmen discuss impact of reduced flow of tourists

(KPL) The tourism business association, owners of hotels, guesthouses and restaurants of Luang Prabang held a meeting in mid-June to exchange experiences on how they had been been impacted by the flow of tourists for the first five months of this year and how tourism had been affected by the global economic turmoil.
Mr Somphong Moungkhounvilay, Chairman of the National Tourism Authority briefed the meeting on the state of the tourist industry in the world and how it had impacted the developed and developing countries.
Mr Somphong urged the various tourist sectors to do all they could to preserve the temples, buildings and unique handicraft products of this province.
Mr Somphong added that the businessmen make it a point to keep Luang Prabang clean and make it safe so that visitors would flock to this world heritage site.
