Lao-Hungarian animal feed factory opens
(KPL) The Lao-Hungarian Animal Feed Factory was opened in a ceremony held in Sikhottabong district, Vientiane Capital, on August 25. The factory has a daily production capacity of one tonne of fish feed and two tonnes of pig and poultry feed. The production will run on a rotary basis, one day for an animal feed and the other on another day.
The governments of Laos and Hungary reached an agreement in 2008-2009 period to enhance cooperation on livestock extension, fish farming and animal feed production. Under the agreement, the Hungarian government has provided a soft loan of USD 8.6 million for the construction of this factory.
Sixty per cent of the financial assistance is spent on building three animal feed factories at the Naluang Fish Farming Centre, and theAgriculture-Forestry Technical Service Centre in Luang Prabang and the Nongteng Livestock Extension Research Centre in Vientiane Capital.
Present at the opening ceremony were Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Mr. Sitaheng Rasphone, and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Hungary, Mr. Gyogy Czer Van, and relevant officials of both sides.
