Police arrest Nigerian with 900 grams of heroin
(KPL) Anti-Drug officials arrested a man in Chanthaboury district of Vientiane Capital for possession of 900 grammes of heroin. Acting on a trip-off, officials from Anti-Drug Office of Vientiane Capital detained the 31 year-old man, holder of Nigerian passport No. A 00065834. Lieutenant-Colonel Khamphone, Director of Anti-Drug Department, Ministry of Public Security said that before his arrest on 21 June in Khoualuang village, Chanthaboury district, Vientiane Capital, the local authority did inform the police that a stranger who behaved in a suspicious manner was living in a guest house in their area. Police acted swiftly, raided his place of residence and found 900 grams of heroin. After his arrest, he confessed that he was trying to smuggle heroin out of country and he also said he had been in Laos on six occasions. The Director of the Anti-Drug Department told journalists yesterday that more than one person might be involved in this illicit drug smuggling operation and that the men of his department had been working very hard to hunt them down.
