Party chief visits Savannakhet province

(KPL) During his visit to Savannakhet province on 26-28 August, Secretary General of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party and State President Choummaly Sayasone met with local administrations, officials, police and military officers and people of Nong and Xonbouly districts in this central province.

President Choummaly Sayasone was accompanied by Mr. Bounpone Boutanavong, member of the Party Central Committee and head of the Party Central Committee Office, Mr. Souphan Keomixay, Vice governor of Savannakhet and other high ranking official from central and local levels.

After being briefed about the activities in the areas of socio-economic development, national defence and security by the district governors, President Choummaly Sayasone praised cadres, party members, and all parties as well as local people for their efforts in implementing the party’s policy as well as state laws.

He said by doing so they had ensured local security and improvements in people’s living conditions, step by step.

He also told them of the concern of the Party Central Committee and the government for people in outlying mountainous areas and the difficulties they face. So far the Party and the government have put in large amounts of both money and effort into socio-economic development in mountainous areas.

President Choummaly also called for ethnic people of all social strata to unite and implement the resolution of the 8th Party Congress and the nation’s laws and regulations. He asked them to overcome all difficulties to fulfil the cause of national defence and construction.
