Lao Diasporas no need to pay for visa during Vientiane's 450th anniversary celebration
(KPL) Lao diasporas in foreign lands can enter their homeland without paying entry visa during the celebration of Vientiane's 450th anniversary as national capital city.
An official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday that the move was to facilitate and increase the visit to Laos of the Lao diasporas for celebrating Vientiane’s 450th anniversary as national capital city between 15 and 21 November 2010.
Visa fee exemption for the Lao diasporas is for between November 1 and 21, 2010.
The move is to promote solidarity and relations between the Lao people in Laos and the Laotians in foreign countries worldwide, to help them see or meet each other and to encourage the Laotian diasporas to contribute to the national development, said the official who preferred to be unnamed.
However, the final decision on this visa exemption is to be made later by high ranking officials of the government.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the number of the Lao diasporas in foreign countries is almost 600,000.
